Use what you have learned about our Destiny Online Card Catalog, web links, resources, etc. and find three possible books for each of the following students/scenarios.
Student 1:
Suzie is a second grader who just got a new kitten. She is very curious about what steps she needs to take in order to care for her new pet. Use the card catalog to find three books about this topic that are age appropriate.
Student 2:
Robbie is a 4th grader who is beginning his State Fair Research project. His state is Maine. He must find information about the state, it's population, and famous individuals from that state. Use the card catalog and web resources to find 3 possible sources of information for him.
Student 3:
Janel is a 5th grader who just started the I Wonder Project. This project allows students to select their own research topic. They must formulate a research question related to that topic. Then they need to find resources, either online or in text, that may possibly answer that research question. Janel wants to know what "the most common name ever is". Help her refine her research question to one that is more realistic to answer. Then use the online search strategies you've learned to find two web resources she could use.
Create a google document listing the materials you found for each student. This doesn't have to be a lengthy document, simply provide the call numbers, website name or resource you have found for each student. With student number three be sure to include the revised research question you helped the student come up with. Post the URL to your student portfolio.
A rubric is provided for your reference. There are six possible points.
